Pick a year level and have a go. It's a rough guide to what we cover at each stage, and your child might surprise you.
1What is ¾ of 24?
24 ÷ 4 = 6, and 3 lots of 6 is 18.
2What is 0.6 as a percentage?
Multiply by 100: 0.6 × 100 = 60%.
3A rectangle is 7 cm long and 4 cm wide. What's its area?
Area = length × width = 7 × 4 = 28 cm². 22 would be the perimeter.
1Solve 3x + 5 = 20
Take 5 from both sides to get 3x = 15, then divide by 3.
2What is −4 × −6?
A negative times a negative is positive, so it's 24.
3Simplify the ratio 12 : 18
Divide both sides by 6, the highest common factor.
1Expand (x + 3)(x − 2)
x² − 2x + 3x − 6 = x² + x − 6.
2A right-angled triangle has shorter sides of 6 and 8. How long is the hypotenuse?
6² + 8² = 36 + 64 = 100, and √100 = 10.
3What's the gradient of the line through (1, 2) and (3, 8)?
Rise over run: (8 − 2) ÷ (3 − 1) = 6 ÷ 2 = 3.
Relaxed lessons, real progress
Tutoring shouldn't feel like more school. Lessons are laid-back and one-on-one, with plenty of room for "hang on, can you show me that again?" Students who've been anxious about maths usually settle in within a week or two.
There's a plan behind the easygoing vibe. Every lesson targets something specific, and you'll get a quick note on what we covered.
No judgement, ever. Wrong answers are just part of the process. We'd much rather your child asks a "silly" question than sits there confused.

First lesson
We start with a relaxed check-in on the basics to find the gaps. You'll get a short summary afterwards.
Weekly lessons
Same time each week, with a plan that lines up with school tests. You'll get a quick update after every lesson.
Why one-on-one works
In a class of 25, a student who's lost on Tuesday is usually still lost on Friday. One-on-one, we can spot the exact step that went wrong and sort it out on the spot, even if it's something from two years ago.

What are lessons actually like?
Relaxed and one-on-one. We chat about what's going on at school, work through a few things together and leave plenty of room for questions. Nobody gets put on the spot, and it's completely fine to ask for something to be explained three different ways.
Can you help a student who's really behind?
Yes, that's a big part of what we do. Have a look at our foundational maths page for how we rebuild the basics.
Do you come to our place?
Yep. In-home lessons are available across most of metro Melbourne. A local library works too if that's easier. Check the areas we cover.
Are we locked into a contract?
Nope. Pay as you go or grab a term pack. You can pause or stop whenever you like with 24 hours' notice.
Will lessons match what's happening at school?
That's the whole idea. Lessons follow the Victorian Curriculum, and we work from your child's textbook, homework and upcoming tests. Bring along whatever the school sends home.
